CLUB PERSON OF THE YEAR (2020)

There was only one Club award made during Season 2020, and it was the Committee’s pleasure on behalf of all associated with the Ormond Amateur Football Club to announce GREG HOLMAN as the Club Person of the Year.

Greg’s contribution to the operations of the Club in 2020 was outstanding, and required a commitment like no other due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Greg was appointed the Club’s COVID Safety Officer in May, and with it came a myriad of administrative and operational tasks to be completed and performed to ensure that the players and coaches could return to train in June in a safe environment, and in accordance with strict conditions and protocols required by the VAFA and the City of Glen Eira.

Greg’s attention to detail, his willingness to assist anyone, his sincerity, his genuine care for the players, and his record of attendance at training, made him the only option this year for this award.  He also participated in the storeroom clean out and re-stocking, and in his role as Treasurer of the OAFC Life Members Association was instrumental in encouraging Life Members to financially support the Club this season.  Whilst Greg’s work ‘behind the scenes’ each season is enormous for this Club, in 2020 he surpassed his already high benchmark of volunteerism.

Congratulations from us all Greg, and particularly from the players, coaches, football staff and trainers, being the group who most benefited from your outstanding work.  And I acknowledge the support of Greg’s partner, Leigh, who accepted those many occasions when Greg was occupied attending to Club matters.
