Fifth Day Lunch - Martin Pakula

Our first Fifth day Lunch is on the 19th April with Martin Pakula

Martin was a local who attended Ormond Primary School in the 1970s and was an Ormond Junior footballer. His secondary education was at Haileybury.

Martin attended Monash University graduating with Economics and Law (Honours) Degrees. He won the Industrial Relations Law prize in his final year.

His employment commenced with law firm MacPherson and Kelly in 1993 before moving on to the National Union of Workers, eventually becoming State Secretary.

He was elected to the Victorian Upper House (Legislative Council) in 2006 and in 2013 moved to the Lower House as the Member for Lyndhurst, He retired from State politics in November 2022.

During his time in the State Government Martin had been a Minister for Industry and Trade, Industrial Relations, Public Transport, Racing, Jobs and Innovation, Tourism, Sport and Major Events, Industry Support and Recovery, and Business Precincts as well Attorney-General.

In 2023, he became Chair of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation – that’s both F1 cars and MOTOGP.

With the breadth of his experiences over the last 20 years in particular, surely there are a wealth of stories.
