Girls and Womens Football Appointment

We are pleased to announce the appointment of PENNY CULA-REID as the Director of Female Football across both the Ormond Amateur Football Club and the Ormond Junior Football Club.  Penny will drive increased football participation by girls in the Junior club, with the planned outcome being the return of Women’s football to the Senior club in the next 2 – 3 years, as the girls transition into senior football.  Penny’s role will also work to increase the number of qualified female football coaches, as both clubs work in partnership to strengthen female football participation and involvement at EE Gunn Reserve.

Penny is an accredited AFL Level 3 Coach, and brings with her a wealth of experience, gained through her time with the AFLW & VFLW programs, including 5 years as a Senior Coach.  She lives locally in East Brighton and has strong connections with a number of footballers around our area.  This opportunity comes at the perfect time for both clubs, as the Junior club seeks to build on its three girls teams this season, and the Senior club ramps up its aim to have women’s football return to EE Gunn Reserve (we had a team in 2017, the inaugural season of VAFA female football).
