GREG HOSKIN has been appointed the new Senior coach of the Ormond AFC.
Greg brings a number of attributes to the position, not only his experience and success as a multiple premiership coach, but a proven ability to lead and educate a young and goal-oriented playing group.
Greg joins Ormond following a four year stint as Head Coach of the Fish Creek Football Club (Alberton Football League), including three premierships. Prior to Fish Creek, he had a year as Assistant Coach with the Port Melbourne Football Club under Gary Ayres (2015).
Greg is a Physical Education teacher at McKinnon High School (since 2008). Greg taught/ knows many current players on Ormond’s playing list, and the Committee is confident that Greg’s involvement with the Club will assist our endeavours to have U19s footy return to Ormond by 2021.
On behalf of the Committee, and the 2020 coaches appointment sub-committee, I welcome Greg and his family to the Ormond Amateur Football Club. Announcement of other coaches and assistant coaches will follow in coming weeks.
I also take this opportunity to thank Ash Lever for his outstanding contribution to the Ormond AFC as Senior coach for the past five years, with the 2018 Senior premiership the highlight. Ash’s legacy is a playing list that has the potential to continue to work through the grades, and enjoy much success in coming seasons. I wish Ash the very best of success at his new club, Oakleigh AFC.
My congratulations and thanks also goes to Andrew ‘Joffa’ Kahofer for his contribution as the Club’s Reserves coach for the past three years. Joffa brought two Reserves premierships to the Club, and laid the foundation for the careers of several young players who have now progressed to become Senior footballers with the Club. Joffa is trying his hand as a senior coach at East Brighton in the SFNL, and we wish him every success.
